I don’t typically stay after a wedding to hang out late with the couple, but Dave, Dru and I had such a great time with Erica and Gary that we couldn’t help but hang out after this wedding. This was one of the most relaxed weddings we’ve shot in a while — which was great because it was the end of a triple (Fri, Sat, & Sunday) wedding weekend. For a fall October wedding, it literally felt like summer – warm weather, people sunbathing on the beach and all.
It was my first time at this venue, so when we arrived we checked out the place to see where everything was and fell in love with how much of a resort it felt like. I couldn’t believe we were on a Jersey beach with the outdoor bar and lounge right on the beach. Every thing was all in one place, the bridal suite had fantastic lighting, and Erica had the best details. (I love those invitations…. and how cute is the toe jewelry instead of shoes??)
We did the first look on the long walk towards the beach. I loved how they had walkways because if you’ve ever been on a beach, you know that trek back and forth is killer on your leg muscles (especially carrying a ton of gear). It was a small, intimate wedding so we quickly finished up portraits before the ceremony. It was a fun ceremony as part of it called for family to do shots of whiskey and at the end, everyone threw mini beach balls at the couple as they walked off.
We had gorgeous light well into the reception. I kind of feel like Erica and Gary have the best luck because we got incredible sunsets for both their wedding and their engagement session photos! I had a blast running around and playing in the water. My shoes got destroyed. Their shoes probably got destroyed (ps. sorry!!) but the photos are kind of epic and I just love when people trust me to play in water. Enjoy =D
