Announcements & Such

Count the little things:

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how the little things greatly affect our lives and the lives around us. Life can be tough but it can also be INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL if we learn to appreciate the little things: It’s those tiny moments (like the loving glance of a significant other) that motivate us to get out of bed in the morning and keep trying to be a better version of ourselves.

Dave and I have always had this dream to be able to work together to combine our passions, talents and energy and build it into something awesome. Until recently, that wasn’t really an option as I’m always super careful about risks and jumping off into unknown territory. It’s a scary thought, risking everything. Not knowing what could happen. We could fall and hit rock bottom, or we could grow wings and fly all the way to the stars. But we could also hit rock bottom and you know, not eat.

I’ve come to believe, as Dave says, “it’s better to fail, living truer than true, then to play it safe and not truly be you.”

With that said, for the Major Announcement:

After a lot of thought (and stress. And more thought. And more OMG HOLY MOLY WE ARE ACTUALLY DOING THIS thoughts), Dave and I have finally taken the leap. Since August 31st 2016, Dave has quit his day job and has been working with me everyday, coming up with some incredible ideas for the company.

We are not quite there yet, but Serena Star Photography will be offering Video, headed by Dave in the coming months. I’m sooooo excited, as video is one of my absolute favorite things!!! Dave has worked with me off and on and I’m so excited to be able to spend my days actually with him instead of the few hours every night when we worked separately. Not only is he experienced in photography, photo editing, audio engineering and music production, he also holds a degree in graphic design. He’s great at sales, marketing and customer service (Which gives me more time to focus on what I love…. Art!). And it turns out he’s pretty awesome at video, too!

Combine that with the drive the two of us have when we work together, I’m so incredibly excited to begin this next chapter of our lives together.

If you are a frequent reader of my blog, you may already know that my bestie/college roommate is getting married this weekend! (I’m so excited!!!) We photographed Sam and Zig’s engagement session in Bethlehem, PA, which you can see HERE.

What you didn’t know is that Dave also did an ENGAGEMENT VIDEO of the whole day!!! It turned out pretty awesome for our first fully edited production and I can’t wait to see where we take video as we keep shooting, editing, and learning. Next stop, getting more gear =D

I hope that you all enjoy our first video as much as I do! Not bad for a first try I’d say =D
