Rutgers Gardens Wedding | Stephanie & Christopher | NJ Wedding Photography

July 9, 2018

It’s not often I get to see my SCA (IE. medieval reenactment) friends out of garb (medieval clothes) and in their mundanes (normal clothes). It’s a tad stranger seeing them all dressed up for a wedding, but once everything got started it wasn’t any different than any other day with everyone (aka the shenanigans began).

When Stephanie and Chris had contacted me to photograph their wedding, I was super honored and stoked. Becky Beasley, another photographer and SCAdian friend had recommended us when they started looking for photographers. Stephanie is a talented hula hoop fire spinner. She’ll argue against that — but I love watching her at Pennsic (that medieval event I always talk about that’s coming up in a few weeks). Christopher is the most epic bar tender one could ever ask for in a camp. (And their specially crafted drink menu at the wedding proved that all over again).

We started with prep over at the hotel before heading over to Rutgers Gardens for their first look and Ceremony! This place is incredible. Greenery as far as the eye can see. I could have spent all day photographing just them and their bridal party on the grounds. I loved that the whole bridal party was shades of pastels. We took golf carts into the forest for their ceremony where they were married before everyone head over to Destination Dogs (A gourmet Hot dog/Sausage bar in New Brunswick) for their reception!

It was great because Becky Beasley was able to take our photographer’s group photo so my assistant/brother Dru actually managed to make a cameo for once. (And holy moly he’s smiling xD). I’m so excited to get to hang out with them all again in a few weeks at Pennsic! It will be my brothers first time camping with our group and I’m excited to see everyone again without working!
