Sam & Zig Engaged: Bethlehem Engagement Photography

July 6, 2016

Oh my gosh, where do I even start with this post. My bestie / roomie in college, Sam is engaged to one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. As soon she told me she was engaged to Zig, it was all I could do not to explode with excitement. We are talking about the guy that literally MADE Dave and my wedding actually function on the day of. Without him it wouldn’t have gone anywhere near as smooth as it did. And then I find out they are engaged and i’m like….. yessssssssss. Where do I sign up to do your photos. Like now. Like yesterday.

So of course I will magically find a way to photograph both their engagement session and wedding. (Even though I’m in the party. Again, I’m magic…al?)

These two are the most adorable couple ever. EVER. (But I might be a little biased. Just saying.) It doesn’t help that Sam is absolutely gorgeous and just about as much a goofball as I am, and Zig fits her like a glove. They were so much fun to hang out with as we ran around Bethlehem, PA doing their engagement session.

I guess I should start at the beginning. My husband, Dave and I drove up to meet Sam and Zig at “Porter’s Pub” in Easton, PA. I finally got to meet the rest of her bridal party. (Except her sister Stephanie whom I already knew =D). We all had lunch and drinks (Not something I normally do on an engagement session), then headed to “Hyperion Salon” where her sister works to get her hair done.

The boys took off as soon as we got to the Salon. Literally. We were in the bathroom and the whole group of them just left and went to Main Street in Bethlehem.  They started at the “Bethlehem Brew” works and ended down at “The Wooden Match”, right where we needed to be to start shooting photos in Historic Bethlehem, right below Hotel Bethlehem.

Hanging outAfter hair was done, we (Sam, Lydia, Stephanie and I) headed to NJ and visited MAC makeup artist MUA Paula Singer to have her makeup done for the session. By the time that was done and we made it back to The Wooden Match, it was time to shoot!

Sam is fantastic at coordinating outfits and planned on two for the day. We walked through Historic Bethlehem. Something new I haven’t posted before is that my husband is currently learning cinematography and video’d the entire engagement session. (Video coming soon!) Groomsman Josh was a trooper and helped me hold lighting gear. I even got to take photos of Sam with her sister who is currently pregnant and due a few weeks after their wedding.

Once we left there, we rushed to the Bethlehem stacks which holds a lot of meaning to Sam as her grandfather worked there. She has the stacks tattooed on her foot and I remember it being one of the first things I knew about her when we met in college. She wore her grandmother’s pearls and they collaborated on “Mickey & Minnie” themed outfits. We shot until the sun went down and the stacks lit up and called it a day! Grabbed some food at the end of the night at a local bar and Dave and I headed home. (So I could cry as I shifted through photos and film, not being able to pick my favorites cause I’m too attached to everything to post teasers o_o).

I hope you enjoy viewing this engagement session as much as I did. The locations are beautiful and it’s always easy when you have such a fun couple! 13528171_10157618084140131_1499609554558956729_o
