Euphoric, blissful, crazy, stupid, and sometimes stubborn love. You are marrying your soulmate and I am honored that you are interested in meeting with me to capture and document your love story. I believe that photographs capture the best parts of ourselves and are timeless and forever. They are the living, breathing documents of who we are and who we will be to the loved ones we know and the ones we never get to meet after we are gone. They remind you of just how beautiful you are inside and why you fell in love in the first place.
Photography is more than just a job to me — it’s about meeting people and making connections. I don’t just want to be another vendor you check off your list - I want to get to know your story. I want to make sure that you like us as people (You are going to see me a LOT, and when I'm comfortable I can be a bit of a talkative goofball). It’s an honor to be chosen to experience the most important parts of your life with you!
I believe there is no such thing as “not photogenic”. On your wedding day you will be dressed in the most gorgeous gown (and fitted suit). Your makeup and hair will be professionally done, and you will be glowing with love for one and another. It’s pretty impossible to take a bad photo when our goal is to capture that love between you and your soon be forever. Love is beautiful. And extremely photogenic.
You’re probably spending every waking moment planning and are still overwhelmed with all the decisions to be made. As someone who eats, sleeps and breathes weddings on a daily basis, I thought it would be easy to plan my own wedding. I was SO wrong! I’m here every step of the way to help you! I'll give you vendor recommendations, help create a day-of timeline, let you know of the things that can inevitably go wrong, and am generally here for you every step of the way.
Your wedding day is a reflection of you. You spend countless hours planning this important moment and my goal is to tell that story. No matter what happens: rain or shine, family that shows up or not, or whatever else the universe throws at you, your wedding is about the two of you saying your vows and being married. At the end of the day, that's what I want to capture.
And Dave and I put our money where our mouth is for our own wedding. Our biggest budget was for our photo & video. After the food is ate, the cake is gone, the flowers die, the suit is returned, and the dress is ruined (Are you really going to wear it again anyway?), what you have left is the moments we capture of your day.
I love couples with unique and fun personalities! I have a soft spot for and LOVE themed, offbeat, disney princess, handfastings, and whimsical weddings! For my own wedding, we had an Alice in Wonderland themed wedding with gorgeous florals in teapots, clocks, drink me bottles and more throughout. I Love being able to experience capturing creatives.
I believe beautiful imagery is only part of the reason you should choose your photographer. You should also click us as well as we will be by your side your entire wedding day! I'd love to get to know you over coffee (or happy hour) or if you'd prefer you can visit us at our Studio in Pittsgrove, NJ. If time is tight or the distance is long, I'd love to skype or facetime with you!
You love emotional imagery and are not afraid to laugh or cry in your photos (Book one of my recommended MUA and I promise your makeup will stay put)
You love incredible details and feel they can tell the story of your personality
You want to have fun on day one of your marriage
You believe the dress is only worn once and getting a little wet, dirty, etc is totally worth the epic photos
You love our bright, bold, and colorful timeless photography style
You value tangible photography and believe art should be in print and not just on a USB
You like Whiskey. Or Medieval stuff, Video games, Anime, Disney movies, or other random nerdy things.
You are totally cool with it if I show up to shoot in a pair of Combat boots and a dress.

As with most people in this crazy world. it takes a lot of hats to keep a family going. While I do other things such as makeup and hair, crafts and more I do stay within the arts field! I couldn't imagine doing anything else with my life. I get to create artwork for families that will last a life time all while getting to meet new people, make new friends, travel to amazing places, fight my fears one at a time to do sessions (I've had to learn to Ice Skate, Shoot on a boat while sea sick, and stand at the top of a skyscraper while being deathly afraid of heights). And I get to sit at home (much better than sitting around my studio by myself) with my furbabies all day and edit when I'm not shooting!
Yep! Wouldn't leave the house without it. If your venue needs it, let me know and I can provide them with a certificate.
Yep! While Serena Star Photography retains the copyrights of the images, but you are given full rights to print your own images for personal use. This means you don't have to come back to us after the wedding to make prints unless you want high quality art.
We deliver about 75-100 high resolution jpegs per contracted hour after we cull (remove) all the blinks, blurry shots, weird in between expressions, duplicate shots, and test photos. (Yes we like to take photos of each other behind the scenes during light test. Sometimes they are inappropriate xD). We do not deliver RAW files.
Your online gallery of images will be ready somewhere between 8-12 weeks during our busy season. Albums take a bit longer since I custom design each page from scratch and most options are printed, bound and shipped from Italy. On average another 8-12 weeks after you approve the album design. (We have options that can arrive sooner) Engagement sessions typically take 4-6 weeks.
As a trained and experienced photographer, I know how to work on the fly under any challenging lighting situation or location. I also try to create unique art on every wedding, so even if I haven’t worked at your venue yet, I would try something new to break out of the box. I always have external lighting and professional gear that can handle dark rooms, so I can work under any situation.
Yes please!!! Weddings are a long and tiring day and I’m on my feet from the time you get ready until long after you have danced the night away. While I do bring snacks and such, it is important to have one good meal at dinner time to keep up my energy! (Shaky photographers don't make for good photographs.) I’d rather not have to leave your wedding to get something to eat from my car, especially during wedding season heat when most food is perishable. Please note, I’m deathly allergic to peanuts, bloody beef super creeps me out, and I usually eat vegetarian, or salmon.
There is no such thing as sick days in photography, lol. The only time I would not be there is if I was LITERALLY on my death bed. *Knock wood* I’ve never been too sick or hurt to show up for a wedding day but in the case I was, I guarantee that someone of equal skill and professionalism will take my place on your wedding day. My contract protects you from being without a photographer last minute. I have a huge network of very competent professionals. If possible, I would still be the one editing the order. If not, my team can finish your images in my style and deliver them.
I am A' OK with going out in that rain for you! I can still make beautiful photographs in the rain. Part of the fun is making the best out of any situation. I can find little niches under an overhang where I can bring the trees in the distance in the background and still create an outdoor feel if its available. If not, I have tons of lights and we can shoot indoors. There is also always after sessions to do it over on a perfect day. For engagement sessions, if you'd rather not get wet, we can always reschedule an engagement session if you’d prefer a sunny day!
Booking is super easy! You can even do it all online. You'll even get your own login on my site where you can view everything (payments, agreement, etc) all in one place. I require a deposit and a signed agreement to lock in your date. Once your date is reserved, I can set up a payment schedule to finish off the remaining balance for your convenience. I do require that the entire contracted package is paid off no later than one month prior to the wedding. This is to prevent any delays in getting your photos and products to you on time. Payment are made in cash, check or credit card.

Serena is absolutely amazing! My husband and I knew we wanted her to shoot our wedding from the first time we met her. She is professional, talented and really knows her stuff...a huge bonus is that she is also super sweet! Planning a wedding and coordinating vendors is so stressful, but working with someone like Serena was just the best. Her prices are so reasonable, she takes so many photos and they are all gorgeous! We used Serena for both our engagement photos and the wedding, both sets turned out stunning. She knows exactly when to get the best light and it shows in her work. What we really loved about her is that she takes time to get to know the couples she works with; to see what's important for her to capture on the day and to show a little bit of our personality as well. What you don't realize is how much time you spend with your photographer on your wedding day, so you should pick someone that you feel comfortable with and get along with. We all had so much fun hanging with Serena, her husband, Dave and her assistant. Recommend them 1000x over!!

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Serena for both our engagement photos as well as our wedding and I wouldn't have it any other way. When planning for our engagement session we wanted to incorporate a pin-up style Minnie & Mickey theme since we got engaged in Disney. Serena didn't only do an amazing job, but completely nailed our expectations. Our wedding was three months later and in-between that time Serena was an essential asset to our planning. She has incredible talent with save-the-dates, invitation design, and a true eye for what the wedding day was supposed to look like. My husband and I were blown away with her ability to convert our visions to realities. We also had the pleasure of working with Serena's new service of videography- which turned out to be something I couldn't imagine myself living without. Even though our wedding day was only one day- Serena has made memories that will last us a lifetime!

"blown away with her
My husband and I absolutely loved having Serena as our wedding photographer! She and her husband are a great team! From their pleasant demeanor and creative energy to their professional preparedness and beautifully taken photos, it was such a wonderful, memorable experience having them shoot our wedding. Me and my bridal team were so behind schedule getting our makeup done and Serena took the initiative to speak with our limo drivers and present me with options of where to take our portrait photos and still make it to the ceremony all time. This was above from what I expected her to do and I'm so grateful to her for it because I was able to keep my sanity and we were able to take our amazing photos and be on time! An additional bonus is the turn around time for photos!! I didn't expect to get them as soon as we did; AND she also provides teaser photos soon after the wedding so that you have something to look at in the meantime!! Serena is amazing and I highly recommend her to others as the TOP wedding photographer in the area!

"it was such a wonderful
Serena was amazing!!! We were such a mess planning our wedding. The date changed at least three times! She was so good about being flexible and helping keep me calm. She wasn't just there as our photographer, she was there to help with anything and everything - offering up suggestions when we didn't know what to do next and were panicking trying to plan our special day. Serena's photos turned out beautiful (as always!) and are always so unique. She worked with OUR style to make our photos special. We love her and would highly recommend her to anyone and everyone! She has such a wonderful energy about her. Just ALL SMILES!

"she wasn't just there as
This was by far THE BEST.MONEY.SPENT.ON OUR WEDDING.With cost, she was fair, especially for what she provides. She gives all of the photos that come out, allows downloads at your leisure, and takes a huge selection. She personally is one of the sweetest people we’ve met who was able to make us feel comfortable and relaxed which was huge on our wedding day as my wife's dress zipper broke. Serena helped significantly by keeping her calm. On the wedding day, her assistant was on time took extraordinary pictures of our wedding accessories around our house that matched our wedding theme making our first home part of our wedding day. She then, ala Serena, made everyone feel comfortable for a great set of photos with the groomsmen. During the ceremony, they were barely noticeable but amazingly skilled at getting perfect candid photos and prepared a list of portraits for after. What we appreciated was that she emailed and planned this out well beforehand. During the reception, they kept us on schedule, getting the photos we wanted but the best part was that while we were eating, etc she looked for amazing pictures to take which made us feel that she really cared. When it began to snow, she got us and took photos that looked like a fairy tale which made my wife unbelievably happy. And even when she was technically done, Serena kept taking photos. You can’t pay enough for her passion and love. People say that the DJ, food, etc is important for a good time but I really feel like its the people. For us, having our loved ones together, we could have had fun anywhere. The thing we couldn't replace was Serena. There is no doubt in my mind that she was the perfect and only person for the job. NO ONE could have done better in my mind and I will only use her in the future for any and all events we want photographed. So if you have any event, YOU NEED TO BOOK WITH SERENA!!!.NOW!!.we would have given her a 100 star rating and written more if I could.
on our wedding."
"BEST money spent
One of the best decisions we could have made during the entire wedding planning process was booking Serena Star Wedding Photography. Not only did our pictures turn out beautifully - but she was incredibly easy to work with from beginning to end. From scheduling meetings and engagement photos, to the last minute pictures we wanted the day of the wedding, she was incredibly flexible and easy going. This is her passion and it is reflected in her work. We highly suggest meeting with Serena and booking her for any upcoming photo needs you may have - she's worth every penny!

"she was incredibly easy
Serena is the absolute best! She's very accommodating with schedules, she's so easy to work with and she makes ideas a reality. We requested to do part of our engagement session at an ice rink, and she strapped skates to her feet to make it happen! She is very professional and super talented, and I am even now plotting ways we can work with her again. She had the engagement pictures back to us super quick, the wedding photos back to us super quick, and we even have our wedding album already! She takes a lot of pride in her work which you can see from the photos themselves to the finished products. Amazing. If you have the chance to work with her, DO IT.

"Amazing. If you have
Serena Star is an absolutely amazing photographer and she somehow kept FIREWORKS a complete secret. We were so happy to be able to have our day photographed by Serena and simply have her share the day with us. Her assistant (brother) and husband Dave were simply incredible as well. I cannot express more joy in seeing our day as Serena did through her lens!

"I cannot express more joy
My husband and I were absolutely thrilled with the work of Serena and Dave. Not only was she super helpful in the months leading up to our big day they also nailed our vision for what we wanted. We get so many compliments on our photos and style that makes them unique. I would never use another photographer, we are customers for life!!
