With as crazy as my work schedule can get, it’s not often that I get to do something totally outside the box and creative anymore. This year, we decided to do something fun for Halloween! This Demonic Horror photo shoot, created together with independent filmmaker, Frank Horror takes the cake for sure. Frank contacted us to photograph this really creepy demon concept and we loved the idea. It’s a small world when he mentioned the model he was collaborating his styling ideas with and I realized that I knew the model and she went to the same high school as I did.
Frank said he wanted to give her silver claws and tattered black nylon, but I don’t think any of us expected everything to come together quite the way it did. In conjunction with the wicked location choice of Tattooed Mom on South Street in Philadelphia, it really pulled together into an epic shoot. Not to mention, it was like a fun date for Dave and I and brought back some nostalgia from the Alt Fashion shoots and just fashion in general I used to do a lot of before my wedding career took off.
In many ways, modeling is like acting in the sense that you have to convince the viewer that you ARE the character you are portraying. Model Laura Dahl seriously did an incredible job playing the part for this shoot with all the contorted poses and fierce facial expressions we were getting.
For those who don’t know this, Dave produces music on the side under the name Avid Wolf. The music from the video is Dave’s orchestral remix of the song “Afterglow” by ELOSIN, an alternative/electro-pop artist that he frequently works with. With just a few tweaks, the track fit the vibe perfectly for the video. You can find more of ELOSIN’s music on iTunes and Google Play.
Enjoy the video we created!
